Creative Lighting For Your Home

When you are designing your home (if you are building), or are even considering doing renovations, there are many things that you will need to think about. Make sure that creative lighting is at the top of your list.

There are so many ways that you can use lighting creatively throughout your home, and it doesn’t just have to be because you need to for reading, crafts, or other things that require overhead lighting.

Here are a few ways that you can use light in your home to create a fantastic atmosphere:

Highlight Artwork – If you have artwork that you would like to show off, you can really highlight it by using certain types of lighting. Two types of lighting that work really well to highlight artwork or photographs are recessed lighting and track lighting. Both look great, and are not only decorative, but highly functional. Remember, with track lighting, it is directional, so you can always move it around when you want to highlight something else, or you need extra light to work by temporarily.

Mood Lighting – There are many times when you would like to have mood lighting, but with regular lamps and ceiling fixtures, this is not always an option. Lights that work on a dimmer switch are nice to have if you are planning a romantic dinner, or are having guests over and you don’t want to have bright lights.

Work Lighting – There are all kinds of things you do that require you to have a good light to work by. You should make sure that you have excellent lighting in your kitchen. Something that looks really great is to have recessed lighting beneath your upper cupboards. That way, you will have all the light you need focused right on your counter.
